On Monday 22 July 2024, SID, in partnership with Heinrich Boll Foundation, hosted the Sustainable Energy Futures Project public virtual workshop under the theme ‘Energy Policy & Dilemmas of a Just Transition'.

The Youth Dialogue on Sustainable Energy Futures for Namibia, hosted by Society for International Development in collaboration with Namibia Youth Energy Forum, was held on 5 July. This event provided a platform for young Namibians to reflect on the current energy landscape and strategize their involvement in shaping Namibia's energy future.

On 21 June, SID co-organized, together with other civil society partners, a side event to the 56th session of the Human Rights Council. Panelists discussed a new report analyzing civil society engagement in UN fora, and proposed ways forward to promote the protagonism of people and grassroots organizations.

On May 25, 2024, in Geneva, the Geneva Global Health Hub (G2H2) convened a civil society workshop ahead of the 77th session of the World Health Assembly (WHA77). The workshop aimed to provide a space for common reflection and exchange on the escalating violence and humanitarian crises mounting globally, with a particular focus on conflicts in the Middle East, Sudan and Ukraine.

Considering how neglected the issue of financialization and its consequences is in development circles, the Society for International Development (SID) has planned this workshop mainly aimed at decision-makers to raise awareness and initiate a frank dialogue on how to tackle and reverse this frightening financial trend in health and food, two highly interconnected arenas.  

In this session, the Society for International Development SID will launch the latest publication of its flagship’s Journal “Development” and initiate a prolific dialogue on the concept of One Health that takes into consideration selected regional experiences, ancestral knowledge and alternative points of view.
