The Society for International Development
(SID), a global network of individuals and institutions
concerned with development, is celebrating its 50th
anniversary this year. In its pursuit for social justice
and institutional change, SID plays an important mediating
and facilitating role among progressive civil society
groups, connecting activists, intellectuals, academics
and policy-makers working at community, national and
international level. All of SID’s activities,
which provide opportunities for the exchange of knowledge
and information, are informed by the belief that such
changes can only be achieved through dialogue and
constructive engagement.
Development
is the flagship journal of the Society for International
Development (SID) published by Palgrave Macmillan.
With alternative perspectives on civil society, development
policy and community based strategies for livelihoods,
gender and social justice, Development keeps readers
up to date on the challenging issues of today's rapidly
changing world.
In 2007 Development celebrates the publication of its
fiftieth Volume. To mark this significant occasion the
Journal will publish an additional fifth special issue
within the Volume.
